Library Media Center Policies and Procedures

Library Hours

The LMC functions on a flexible schedule and is available to all students from 7:45 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. unless otherwise noted. An announcement will be made as soon as possible if the LMC must close for any reason. All efforts are made to accommodate full classes as well as student walk-ins.

Please come to the Media Center with the following:
A pass which shows:
1. Student name
2. Date and time
3. Purpose (i.e. book check-out, web based research, etc.)
4. FULL teacher signature

When you come in to the library, please show your pass to the media specialist or a Library Media student assistant. Then, please sign-in at the circulation desk. When you leave leave the LMC, please sign out.

PLEASE NOTE: The LMC is a place designated for academic work, study, creation, and recreational reading. We encourage all students to respect the rights of others to use the LMC without undue disruption.

The LMC has one independent computer lab designated for whole class instruction as well as independent computer stations for use by walk-ins. At times, whole classes may require the use of these computer stations. Classes who have signed up to use the LMC have priority over student walk-ins, but every effort will be made to accommodate all students who need access.
Computers are available for academic work. Students are encouraged not to use school computers for personal reasons or to "surf" the web for content unrelated to academic work. Students are not to access MySpace, Facebook, or any other personal networking sites while on campus. Please refer to the "Back to School Handbook" for specific policies and disciplinary actions concerning the use and/or misuse of technology.

The LMC has a wide variety of print resources available for student check-out. Students may check out up to three print resources at a time and may keep each resource for 10 school days. Students have unlimited renewals! Students have a one day grace period after the due date to return resources without penalty. Please speak with Miss Somerville regarding late fees. We can work with you!
