Track Teams Successful in State 4A

Congratulations to the D.W. Daniel Girls Track Teams for their strong finishes in the state 4A meet.  The girls team finished second, only a few points behind winner Traveler's Rest.   The boys team finished a strong fifth in South Carolina 4A.

In the 3200-meter run, Daniel's Mari Cagle Lockhart was the winner with Maren Sorber third and Eliza Sorber coming in sixth.  Lockhart also finished fourth in the 1600-meter.  In the 4 x 800-meter relay, Lockhart teamed with Ally Wilson, Julia Blouin, and Maren Sorber for a second place finish.  Wilson also took the 800-meter run with Blouin coming in fifth.

Other Lions placing high in their events included Emily Gaddis who was sixth in the pole vault, Samara Young who finished eighth in the shot put, and TraVon Lay who was the second place finisher in the 400-meter hurdles.  Finally, the team of Lay, Wilson, Catie VanSant, and Jordyne Scott were winners in the 400-meter relay.

On the boys side, the team of Adam Balawi, Mismeh Balawi, Connelly Ayers, and Alex Zangara were winners in the 4 x 800 meter relay.  Mismeh Balaw and Zangara were also second and third respectively in the 1600-meter run.  In addition, John Davis was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, with Connelly Ayers and Adam Balawi coming in sixth and seventh in the boys 800-meter run.
